What A Bride Needs to Pack in Her Wedding Overnight Case

The last couple of days before your big day can be very chaotic and hectic if you don’t have a wedding planner delivering things, collecting things, sorting out the last minute problems that pop up and putting out a few fires here and there - it will all be up to you to co-ordinate.

Even if you have a wedding planner or coordinator on the job you will still be busy with your pampering and beautifying appointments, attending to guests arriving from interstate or overseas, your wedding rehearsal and dinner, putting welcome bags together, finalising seating plans etc, etc, etc!

So it is totally understandable you might get to the night before and think - “OMG - I need to pack an overnight bag for my wedding night and another case to get ready at the hotel (elsewhere if not getting ready at home) - where do I start?”

Here’s some useful ideas for you to "pick n choose" from that might be useful in your overnight bag for the wedding night…

  • Wedding Night Lingerie - you might not get these out after your tiring big day but better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them!

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Hairbrush

  • Oil Based make-up remover - suitable for drag-queens and brides ie those with heavy duty, waterproof, smudge proof make-up!

  • Normal Cleanser and Moisturiser

  • Cotton Balls and Buds

  • Deodorant

  • Hair mask - to recover from all the hairspray or backcombing

  • Bath Salts (Radox) and Bubble Bath (if where you will be staying has one)

  • Tampons or Sanitary Pads

  • Nail file

  • Normal makeup bag

  • Perfume

  • Berocca and other painkillers (in case of any hang over)

  • Medication and birth control

  • A mini speaker and/or headphones

  • Phone and charger

  • House keys

  • A bottle of bubbly and delicious chocolates

  • Second-day outfit

  • Second-day underwear

  • Second-day shoes and accessories

  • Swimmers and sarong or overlay (if there’s a pool)

  • Comfy socks or slippers

  • PJs and/or a Robe

Add these to the list above, and use a larger case with packing sacks to keep things together, if you're getting ready anywhere but home….

  • A nice robe or silky night dress for your hair and make-up that’s easy to remove so nothing gets messed up and that will look nice in your photographs

  • Food or snacks for the wedding morning, bottled water and bubbly - if not ordering in the hotel or having it delivered to you on the wedding morning

  • Wedding dress with a nice hanger

  • Veil or headpiece

  • Lingerie or underwear to go underneath your wedding dress (eg shapeware)

  • Wedding shoes (with heel protectors if needed)

  • Flat shoes or sandals (for walking or reception)

  • Wedding day handbag with hanky, wedding lipstick and miniature of wedding perfume

  • Wedding jewellery and accessories (eg earrings, necklace, bracelet, hair decorations, garter, flowers etc)

  • Wedding rings - VERY IMPORTANT!

  • Any sentimental items you want with you or things you want photographed eg Stationary, grandmas broach etc

  • Wedding Day Emergency Kit - if you haven’t delegated it to another person to be responsible

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen (if needed)

  • Insect repellent (if needed)

  • A mini speaker (if not already packed)

  • A copy of the schedule/runsheet with a list of suppliers, their contact details and a detailed timeline for the day

  • Pen and notepad - or use notes on your phone

  • Wedding party gifts to be given on the wedding morning, at the reception or the morning after (if everyone is staying overnight at the venue)

Good Luck and have the BEST WEDDING DAY IN HISTORY!
